"The Right Stuff" : Brian McNamara

Todays post is all about one of my favourite Irish Photographers : Brian McNamara.

Brian is currently based in Dublin but hails originally from Limerick (but we won't hold that against him).

I first met him a few months ago on a photo shoot and we've been working buddies ever since.

Since the start of the year, I've worked with him more times than I can remember.

Working with Brian is so easy going because he's pretty much as chilled out as they come.

The only time I've seen him stressed was when his studios sweet jar was running out of jellybeans.

He has his priorities right as far as I'm concerned.

 

Since working with Brian, I've had the opportunity to develop my own stories.

 I'd never had the chance to do this before and it was such an exciting process.

Being able to create something that you've envisioned in your mind is a very special thing.

Editorials are usually built around a concept that the Stylist and/or Photographer have developed.

As a Makeup Artist, your input to the overall image is rather limited.

It was so refreshing to try some concepts that I'd had hanging around my brain for the last few months.

I can genuinely say that the work I've created alongside this gentleman is some of my favourite work to date.

Brian has a great eye for detail and puts alot of thought into each look in terms of how it's setup and the lighting.

With each concept I came up with, he found a way to make the shot a million times more amazing than what I had imagined.

Overall, what I'm trying to say is he's a really fantastic photographer as well as a great person.

If we had a few more photographers like him knocking around Dublin, we might be seeing more inspirational work in our Irish publications.

I've no doubt that Brian will continue to consistently create amazing work and that he will reach whatever goals he has set for himself as a photographer.

Love is.........."like a friendship caught on fire.

Um, yeah. What he said...

Beauty is..........absolutely everywhere. 

You just have to allow yourself to see it.

I should be..........fitter, happier, more productive...

I love when..........I discover new awesome things,or meet new cool people.

If I was a bird..........I'd probably be a scruffy pigeon, but secretly dream of being a bad ass falcon.

I dance to the beat of..........I don't dance. 

But I can tap my foot and bop my head with the best of em'. 

Classic 60's/70's rock will usually do it.

I wish I had written..........more to-do lists. 

Because... (see next answer).

I always find myself..........procrastinating.

My heart skips a beat when..........walking barefoot in the dark and I step on something wet and/or squishy. Damn pets!

I'm afraid of..........any insect that flutters. 

That includes butterflies. 

Unpredictable feckers!

I look up to.........anyone who is legitimately talented and hasn't developed a monstrous ego because of it.

The way to my heart is..........not being insane is a good start.

You know what really grinds my gears? 

Social media. 

I understand the legitimate benefits and all that, but I also have a very low tolerance for BS.
