Hello to all you beautiful people,
I'm delighted to announce that my very good friend Lisa Lu has entered the Arthur Guinness Projects competition.
Lisa put together a truly unique experience which will both inspire, amaze and enlighten her audience.
If you could take the time to read her idea below and vote for her concept, I'd really appreciate it.
The voting ends tomorrow so there is no time to waste.
Theatre of Fashion.
The project’s aim is to re-write the destiny of the Irish myth, The Children of Lir through the art of millinery and fashion.
Lisa Lú brings to you a performance that breaks with tradition and the fear of the unknown. Breaks with what you are supposed to be or do.
This is a moment in time.
Step away from the world and enter a room where time stands still.
The bell rings, the double doors open and the audience enters as ghosts in the stillness…
The idea is to build a collection of hats inspired by the tale of The Children of Lir, but one which offers the characters from this mythical world, a more hopeful present and future.
The story is a ‘what if’…
What if they weren’t afraid, what if their stepmother messed up on the curse and they wouldn’t turn to dust if they stepped off their oppressively designed path.
What if their destiny could be re-written.
Lisa Lú wishes to inspire people to take a path of their own choice, and to ignore their presupposed obligatory roads.
With a background in fashion styling, Lisa Byrne will create the mood and tell her own version of the story through fashion and her art as a milliner.
The story will unfold in a performance that takes place between two rooms, where the audience learn of the original tale and travel with it to find an alternative reality.
It is the theatre of fashion, the stories that clothes can tell, even in the mundane, when time stops and we hear them, and see past their function.
I would like to educate people on Irish myths and promote an awareness of the Irish fashion industry.
Lisa Lú intends to be an internationally recognised luxury hat brand for aspirational men and women with plans to export to China, US and Japan, where handmade luxury brands are increasingly sought after.
The brand is aspirational. It is everyday style, wearable, beautiful, simple and sensual.
