Synthetic Makeup Brushes.

I've never been one to follow trends.
I don't understand them, I don't understand the people that obey them and overall they just make my brain hurt.
What I do go through though are fads/phases.
I go through stages of being completely obsessed with something, then tend to forget about it for a few months and get to rediscover it all over again.
And the cycle just goes on and on.....
Example below.

I used to pretty much only ever use Duo Fibre brushes when applying foundation on clients.
It was my "be-all-and-end-all" and my "go-to" brush.
I used to have about four of them in my brush roll and my favourite one was from MAC.
I never felt the need to dabble in any other types of brushes and just loved these ones so much.
That was until the inevitable happened : I got bored with them and wanted to try something different.
I still use them from time to time depending on my mood but why limit yourself?
Where's the fun in that?
Currently I'm loving synthetic kabuki brushes as well as the good old fashioned flat foundation ones.
"If it ain't broke....."

Last year I took a huge step and finally became a Vegetarian.
It was the right decision for me and suits me down to the ground.
This in-turn has led me to become more aware of how animals are affected and mistreated by the beauty industry.
It's a topic that isn't spoken about too much but it's something that I find quite upsetting and incredibly unnecessary.
Considering that in a lot of the testing, the results aren't in anyway helpful to humans so I don't get why it's still done.
Anyway that's a whole other post altogether.

What I'm getting to is the fact that I now choose synthetic makeup brushes over real animal hair ones.
I still have real hair brushes that I use because throwing them all away would be a complete and utter waste but any new brushes I buy are all artificial ones.
For years I didn't really think that a Badger brush was actually made from Badger hair or a Squirrel brush was actually made from Squirrel hair.
Like if you stop and think about that for a moment it's terrifying.
In my entire life I've never seen a Badger in the wild but I will use a brush made from his hair?
Hmmm I don't think so.
The fur industry is intertwined with the beauty industry in this respect and I personally have chosen not to play a part in it.
I'm now a lot more aware of what brushes I use and with that said, I've included some of my favourites below:

Crown Brush

Crown Brush are a manufacturer that have the most wonderful selection of brushes that are totally affordable, easy to use and last a really long time.
They have a great selection of synthetic brushes that are both cheaper than real hair brushes and are great to work with.
My favourites from Crown are their foundation, concealer, mini lash fan and their lip brushes.
Each one will only cost you a few quid so I personally tend to buy in bulk.

Sigma.

Sigma are an American brand that sell a wide range of makeup brushes as well as selling cosmetics.
I really love their brushes because they're great quality, good value and come in a great range of shapes and sizes that are a bit unusual and totally wonderful.
I particularly love their synthetic range of kabuki style brushes.
They're great for using with any liquid or cream product as they blend so beautifully.
They are available to buy either in a set or individually

So when you're next buying makeup brushes, don't forget to question what they're made from.
