Ciate Brand Review.

Hi all,

Well this is one of those posts that I have been meaning to write for about the past month.
I've been putting it off until I have fully made up my mind about Ciates products and gave them a good going over.
I've been trying out three of their nail kits so here's how I got on.

Ciate Caviar "Lemon Fizz" Manicure.

            The Good?
  • I really love the concept for this product and it was the first type of "caviar" manicure I came across.
I'd seen pictures of this set on tons of blogs and I was super excited to try it out.
  • It's pretty straight forward to use. You just apply two layers of the coloured polish on each nail and before the second coat dries, you apply the "caviar" balls through a tiny funnel on to each nail.

         Not so great?
  • Unfortunately my excitement about trying this product died a pretty quick death when I discovered the caviar balls don't like to stay on your nails for very long.
I think mine lasted a couple of hours before they started falling off and left my nails looking a bit pathetic.
The instructions added that if you apply a top coat over the "caviar" balls, that will help to help them secure.
Tried that and it made no difference.
The top coat actually made the colour of the balls come off and my nails just ended up looking super messy.
  • At €23, this set is pretty pricey.
I think it's a really cool idea but the product needs alot of work and really just ain't worth the cash.
I think if Ciate designed a special nail polish that helps to keep the "Caviar" balls on, they would be on to a winner and then they could justify the price tag.

 Ciate Chalkboard Manicure.

           The Good?
  • When I first came across the promo pictures of this set online, my inner child started to freak out.
All I knew was I had to try it out ASAP.
  • I think the idea behind it is just so unique and it's such an awesome concept.
  • The set includes: 4 chalk pens, 1 chalkboard black paint pot and 1 matte top coat.

          Not so great?
  • Hmmm where to start.
OK well to be completely honest unless you have three inch claws or wear fake nails, this set will do nothing for you I'm afraid.
I would consider myself to have pretty average nails and after using this set, my nails looked so ridiculous I just removed it straight away.
  • The idea is that you apply the black polish first and then you can play around with the chalk pens and scribble to your hearts content.
The pens are pink, white, blue and yellow and to be honest, the colour really isn't strong enough on top of the black.
The chalk pens come out looking a bit "washy" and to be honest look a bit pathetic.

Overall I think it's a great concept but I think it could have been designed a bit better.
I'm not 100% sure of it's exact price but I would guess it would be between €25-€30 which I would personally never pay for it.

Ciate Velvet Manicure.

         The Good?
  • Well this was my favourite nail set and I just think it's such a cool idea.
  • The set includes 1 paint pot nail polish, 1 pot of grey crushed powder and a little black brush.
  • This set is available in mink (light grey) and also in a deep burgundy.
  • It sells for €18 which is a bit more reasonable compared to the other sets.

    Not so great?
  • Well I found that my nails looked a bit scruffy after about two days of wearing the velvet manicure.
They mark quite easily so from working and general day-to-day living, you will notice that your nails aren't looking too amazing after a few days.
  • Apart from that, this was definitely my favourite set from Ciate and I will continue to use it.

I think Ciate products would work amazing for runway shows and photoshoot but not so much for day-to-day wear.
    C.
