Did you know there are roughly 27 different types of bras currently on the market?
In all honesty there are probably closer to 100 but in doing some research, (which I actually did), I found 27 types that would be considered normal but that didn't go into fetish wear.
Don't believe me?
OK you asked for it (inhales deeply):
Wired, padded, gel padded, water padded, un-padded, push-up, full cup, half cup, soft cup, cup-less, under wire, balcony, bandeau, bridal, adhesive, convertible, corset, front closure, strapless, sports, t-shirt, U bra, built-in-bra, training bra, shelf bra, peephole, novelty and finally maternity.
That's the equivalent of going to the supermarket to find that there are 27 different types of bananas and you are supposed to quickly find whatever one would suit your needs the most.
With all of these mind-boggling choices on offer, is it any wonder that the majority of women are wearing the wrong style for their body shape?
And we haven't even mentioned finding the right size yet.
I think it's so easy to shrug off the importance of a good "boulder holder" because it makes us feel a bit uncomfortable.

The idea of stripping down to get fitted literally gave me nightmares for the majority of my life and I put it off until I was 22.
I wish I had gone sooner because it turned out to be less invasive than getting my car cleaned.
I think we all lose sight of the fact that bras are meant to make you feel more comfortable and are supposed to fit like a glove.
When they aren't the right size, they can affect your posture, your confidence and the body image you have of yourself.
When you get it wrong, it can lead to a total disaster.
Imagine it like buying a size 4 pump for a size 8 foot.
Kapeesh?
On the other hand get it right and you'll look forward to getting dressed every morning.
You'll be transformed from feeling like an old maid into a modern day Marilyn Monroe by just wearing the underwear that suits your size and shape.
For years I had it in my head that I was a B-Cup.
I have no idea how I came up with that but B seemed an average size so I just went with that.
Imagine my surprise when I finally got fitted and found out that I was actually a DD.
Now can you imagine how much I hated my underwear all of those years?
I was so uncomfortable, suffered with asthma (or BRAsthma as it turned out to be) and just generally had a warped perception of what my body was.
The day I walked out of Marks & Spencers with my suitably sized bra clipped into place, I was overwhelmed with joy and could finally see the importance of underwear.
Want to hear something else a bit nuts?
This time last year I was an E Cup.
But I also wore padded bras.
Every bra I had ever owned was padded that I thought it was the most normal thing in the world.
Can someone please explain that to me?
It's kinda like having big breasts but still wanting to get implants.

Anyways a revelation came in the form of the Dublin Lingerie Company.
They contacted me and asked if I would be willing to try some of their products which was perfectly timed because I needed a change.
I had been doing a lot of weight training in the gym and had shrank a few sizes and my chest was crying out for some attention.

The Dublin Lingerie Company have a great video on their site telling you how and where to measure yourself to find out the right size for you.
I will be completely honest and say that I found this part quite difficult.
As a creatively inclined person, numbers have never been very good friends of mine.
I understand their importance and everything but whenever I need to use them in the slightest mathematical way, my head explodes and I want to run away.
Whenever I have to start converting inches to centimetres and visa versa, it just won't end well.
To my surprise when I finally got the measuring part over with, I'd dropped right down and was two cups smaller than I was a year previously.

With my new size in tow, I decided to order two styles that had no padding in them.
I finally understood that I had enough going on in that area and that they needed no extra attention.
When they arrived, I was a bit apprehensive as I'd never even tried a non-padded bra on but I have to say I absolutely love them and every one I've bought since then has been the same style.
The only negative point I will say is that you will need to be careful on particularly cold days because......well I'm sure you can figure that one out all on your own.
You can check the Dublin Lingerie Company out on the link below or for a cheaper alternative, I'd recommend Marks & Spencers.
