Foul Play?

Todays topic is something I have been thinking about alot over the last few months.
It's something that I see on a daily basis and it really strikes a nerve with me.
It's to do with the ugly side of the beauty industry.
What?
You didn't know it had one?
I'd say it has several.

OK so lets start at the beginning.

If you decided to start your own makeup/skincare brand, what do you think would be involved?

Well if you think like me, you'd imagine it would take a load of research, product development and a whole load of hard work.
You would imagine that you would source your products ingredients, have a lab where the products are created/tested/designed etc and you'd imagine this would take a good few years now wouldn't you?

Well if you are money hungry and want a quick fix makeup brand, it has never been easier.

Do you know that you can buy generic/non-branded makeup products online that are available to buy in huge bulk amounts?
You can then put your "brands" name on the front and then sell them for about 50 times what you paid for them.

Sound a bit ridiculous?

Well in Dublin alone I could tell you about 10 "brands" that are doing this.
They are also claiming their brand is "IRISH" even though the product is manufactured in places like China and America.
That would take alot of nerve now wouldn't it?
Blatantly lying to your customers like that?
Not my style personally.

Make yourself very familiar with this supplier, Your Name Pro and the products on their website below.

Any of these culprits look familiar?

Getting your name printed on a product or using a sticker, yes I said a sticker, to put your name on a product does not make it yours.
If you're claiming to own a line of products, your consumers will be presuming you had some part in that products design/creation.
If you haven't, then it isn't really yours now is it?

This also happens alot with makeup brushes.
You can buy bulk amount of unbranded brushes and get your name printed on them.
Alot of these brushes come from manufacturers like Crown Brush and the person buying them to resell has the power to sell them for about 10 times their worth.

I understand that the fashion and beauty industry can be hugely false at times, I know that more than anyone.
I also know this type of thing goes on with huge companies like the likes of L'Oreal and Estee Lauder.
It also happens with clothing companies and alot of garments are made in the same factories in countries like China, India etc and then labelled and marketed differently to cater to a range of target markets.

I think it's the fact that it's getting so wide spread on my doorstep in Dublin and I just wanted to make sure that before you part with your pennies, you are fully informed about what you are paying for.

In saying that, kudos to all of the Irish brands actually developing their products.
You have my respect and admiration.
