Keen Nutrition.

My interest in eating well has peaked as of late.
I've really seen how much your diet can effect how you feel in every way so I truly believe it's worth the attention.
I've always loved good quality food but when I turned Vegetarian two years ago, my interest in what I was eating has grown considerably.
I think we take so much for granted in our modern life and presume that what we are eating is doing our bodies some kind of good.
Unfortunately that isn't always the case.

I like to do as much of my own cooking and baking as I can so I know exactly what I'm eating.
I've noticed that the more real food I eat, the better I feel in every way possible.
My body feels better on a daily basis (and I feel better about my body), I feel stronger mentally and I have much more energy because I'm eating the right kind of food.
I've become more aware of checking the labels before I buy something and to check where my food comes from.
In Ireland, we have so many farmers that are tirelessly producing every kind of vegetable, fruit and grain and they need to be supported.
I buy free range eggs from a farm 10minutes from my house and as much locally produced vegetables as I can seeing as I'm surrounded by farms on every side.

I recently came across Keen Nutrition in a local farm co-op shop.
Keen produces healthy and delicious nut butters that come in a wide variety of flavours and are made in Northern Ireland.
Keen was founded by Aimee Beimers, who was working as a nutrition consultant, back in 2013.
She was passionate about clean eating and decided she could offer a healthy alternative to the overly processed, junk filled peanut butter and chocolate spreads that were on the market.
Keen nut butters quickly followed and has been thriving ever since.

Most peanut butters that you buy contain peanuts alright but they also contain lots of other hidden ingredients that aren't that good for you.
With Keen, what you see is what you get.
If you buy almond butter, the only ingredients are almonds.
If you buy hazelnut and cinnamon butter, hazelnuts and cinnamon are all you'll find in it.
I first bought a jar of almond and vanilla butter (which is amazing by the way) a few weeks ago and since then, I buy a new jar every week.
Because they contain no artificial preservatives, they last for two weeks after you first open them.
I thought that would be challenge to finish a jar in that space of time but now if one lasts a week before I've scoffed it all, I'm doing well!

They can be used on crackers, toast, pancakes (which is my personal favourite), for baking, the list goes on.
The main flavours available are:

  • Almond.
  • Almond and Cinnamon.
  • Almond Vanilla.
  • Hazelnut with Dark Chocolate.
  • Pecan Butter with Maple.
  • Macadamia and White Chocolate.
  • Triple Nut Butter.

Hungry yet???

They all sell for between €5-€8.95 and I strongly recommend giving them a try.
They have stockists all over Ireland and the UK and you can search for one in your area on the link below:

Have you tried them yet?
