Elizabeth Arden VS. Elizabeth Arden.

Elizabeth Arden 8HR Cream has become such a cult product that whenever I chat to someone who doesn't like it, I make this face.

Trust me I try so hard not to.
I really really really try but I just can't help myself.
I have the same reaction when someone tells me they never use moisturiser or take off their mascara.
My inner shock reads all over my face and there is nothing I can do about it!

I can understand a few reasons why people aren't that keen on 8HR Cream.
The main ones I hear are usually :

"It smells weird".

"It's really thick".

"It smells weird".

"Did I mention it smells weird?"

Elizabeth Arden, being the brainy bunch that they are, brought out an unscented version but I actually like the scent.
It's a mildly medicinal smell and I love nothing more than layering it on my wannabe trout pout up before bed.
My other half isn't so keen on it but anyways.....

I was in the airport recently and picked up a few things........well a lot of things actually and I saw this Elizabeth Arden set for €30.
Bargain!

For the 8HR cream alone it was €26 so I dug deep for the other €4, thought "what the hell" and bought it.
The set includes a hand, body and face cream as well as a tube of 8HR Cream and a solid 8Hr lippie.
The main thing I wanted to try was the lip protectant stick as it seemed like an awesome creation.

I love 8Hr Cream because it has so many functions.
I use it on pretty much every client to fix dry/chapped lips, dry elbows, to give the skin a glow, on the eyes, to highlight down the front of the legs, the list just goes on and on.
The tubes are 50ml and and I probably only go through two or three in a year which is great.
Considering the amount of faces I work with in a year that's pretty good going!

8HR Cream can be used as a face mask on specific areas of dry or dehydrated skin as a quick fix.
I use it all the time on photoshoots.
Sometimes you can't see or feel dehydrated skin until you start putting foundation on.
Then it's all you can see.
I take a big dollop of this stuff, put it where I need it and leave it for 10-20minutes.
After you remove it with a cotton pad, problem solved and you can finish the rest of the look.

So my excitement to try the lip protectant stick was pretty short lived unfortunately.
Think it lasted about five minutes to be exact.
Here's why :

You need to apply far too much of it to feel any effect.
With the tube, you just need a tiny amount which covers alot of skin.
Even an hour or so later you can still feel it there.
With the stick, I've been applying it before bed and my lips don't feel any different.
It gives you the tiniest sheen but that's about it.

The peach toned gloss on the top is the 8HR Cream from the tube and underneath it is barely visible lip protectant stick.

Because you have to use so much of it, it just doesn't last.
I've had mine about two weeks and I'd say I'm on the second half already.
If you buy it on it's own, I think it's around €18 which is definitely not a good deal considering how short it's life span will be.

The only good thing I could say about it is it's handy for travelling.
In saying that, I'd still prefer to bring the tube along for the trip so I could use it for any other skin issues that might crop up.

So what do you guys think?
Personally I think "if it ain't broke......"
