Well are we?
Man I really wanna know!
Well I've been thinking about this topic alot recently for two reasons:
Reason 1:
I suffer with quite bad skin problems which is caused from my magnificent female hormones (thanks girls).
This results in major breakouts on my chin and jawline which not only look bad but are quite painful.
They come hard and heavy and then they'll disappear for a few weeks only to return worse than ever and the cycle just continues on and on.
I've met so many other women who suffer with the same thing and I'm on a quest to find a solution.
Reason 2:
My boyfriend was doing some research for me recently and found a website called "The Oil Cleansing Method".
Trust me I know what you're thinking.
How in the name of Christ are the words oil and cleansing in the same sentence?
But it exists and it has a huge amount of converts so I'm willing to give it a try.
The idea that we have programmed in our minds is that if our skin has breakouts it's because it's dirty.
We think that the spots are caused from a build up of dirt and oil and our instinct is to wash it with all kinds of crazy lotions and potions in the hope that it will disappear.
But every time we wash our skin, we are getting rid of it's natural oil which our skin needs to protect itself.
By cleaning our skin too much, we are in turn forcing our skin to produce extra oil to compensate for all the cleansing which could in turn cause even more breakouts and it just goes on and on.
Actually exhausted even thinking about it!
So the idea of the Oil Cleansing Method is that oil dissolves oil.
By putting oil on your skin, it will help to lift any unwanted oil that has hardened with impurities and set up shop in your pores.
Then by using steam, it will open up your pores and get rid of all the bad stuff.
Sounds easy enough doesn't it?
For this skincare routine they recommend you mix two different types of oil depending on your skin type.
One of the most popular mixtures seems to be Castor Oil, which is quite thick, and Olive Oil, which is alot lighter and helps to dilute the Castor Oil.
Both oils are naturally great for your skin and help the cleansing and the healing process.
So I'm about to start trying out this method and I'm wondering has anyone else tried it?
And if so, how did you get on with it?
I will update you over the next few weeks how I get on but for now check out the link below for all of the details:
