Today I did a huge clean out of my makeup wardrobe.
Yes I have a makeup wardrobe.
It started off as a shelf, then two shelves, then a desk and now a full wardrobe.
It's filled with stock for my kit that include stacks of baby wipes, cotton pads etc and then actual products like lipsticks, foundations, skincare etc.
Whenever I take on this task, I know exactly what's going to happen.
I'm going to find a load of product I didn't know I had, test out pretty much everything I come across and get totally side tracked.
All of the above happened today.
I made a new lipstick palette.
Got lipstick on everything but it was totally worth it.
That was the side tracked bit I was telling you about.
Moving on...
In my rummaging around I found a pile of old magazines and newspapers : my first pieces of published work.
I got really excited, plonked myself on the floor and looked through them all.
Some of them I had forgotten about but others I remembered so clearly.
Others I wished I could've forgotten.
Example:
My first magazine publication credited me as "Claire Allen".
I was so excited when it came out that I ran out to get it and when I saw the credits, I wanted to cry.
All my unpaid hard work was for absolutely nothing.
This happens sometimes unfortunately and it's a learning experience.
Mistakes happen but man was it a buzz killer.
Anyways back to my point.
Looking back through those magazines, I could clearly see how far I'd come since then.
Over the years, I have stuck by what I believed in and worked as hard as I could to become the best version of myself.
The journey included some really challenging curve balls but each one was worth it because I learnt so much along the way.
What I am trying to say is don't get disheartened on your journey.
It will be hard.
It will probably be more difficult than you ever imagined.
But every second will be worth it and at the end of it all, you would do it all over again if you had to.
Life ain't going to last forever so make every minute count.
