"Beauty is in the eyeshadow you behold..."

Hi all,

Todays Topic : Eyeshadows.

You more than likely have a good few eyeshadows hidden away somewhere in a shoe box or a vanity case.
The majority of them are most likely barely used and will never be used.
So why do this to ourselves?
Why do we impulsively buy things we know we will never use?

Well I have a few theories.

Packaging.

We've all been dazzled by the packaging of some eyeshadow palettes now haven't we?
On more than one occasion as well?
Thought so.
I think one of the main brand this tends to happens with is Urban Decay.

You become so mesmerised by the cute packaging that you don't really focus on the colours of the shadows don't you?
Years ago, I had two Urban Decay palettes that each had 8-10 shadows in them.
I think I paid about €35 for each one and I only ever used two shadows out of each one.
Savvy shopper?
I like to think so.

Pushy Sales Assistants:

We all know at least one of them or have been forced to be one at some point in our lives.
I feel really sorry for sales assistants because they are put under tons of pressure to make sales targets and to sell as much as possible.
Tough in a recession.
I have been there and I understand 100% what it's like for the sales assistants but I also understand how annoying it can be from the consumers point of view.

Every entered a beauty hall in a Department store and start to feel like you're walking through a pack of lions?
You are careful not to make eye contact because then they will strike so you keep your head down.
You hope they won't see you but it's inevitable
In the corner of your eye, you see that you are being followed.
Your heart starts to beat ferociously as a bead of sweat falls from your brow and you know you are done for.

It's too late to try to escape, there is no easy way out and no more time stands between you and your predator.
And then you hear the words that you have been dreading.
"Need any help?" or "want to try the new fragrance from...?".
Sound familiar?

Always remember when you approach a makeup counter that the staff are usually trying to push a certain product.
Ever ask for one thing and then you are given the opposite?
That is probably why.
My funniest experience I ever had was when I approached a counter and randomly picked up an electric green mascara.
The sales assistant jumped me to assure me that it would look amazing on me.
Good to know I guess.

So when it comes to eyeshadows I like to keep it simple.
A great eyeshadow doesn't need to have OTT sparkley packaging.
Practical packaging is good with me.

Below are a few of my favourite eyeshadows at the moment:

1 :Ben Nye.

Ben Nye eyeshadows are one of my favourites for sure.
They come in nearly every colour imaginable, have amazing pigment and last a really long time.
They are available to buy individually as well as in palettes which are great for makeup artists.

2 : MAC Cosmetics.

MAC are most known for their eyeshadows which are available both individually as well as in palettes.
Their palettes are super handy and I have quite a few in my kit.
I would mainly use their matt finish shadows but I also have some really nice metallic ones.
They sell for around €11 each which is really good value.

3 : Make-up Atelier Paris.

For the last few weeks I have been trying out this "Marron Naturel" palette from Make-up Atelier.
I really like the colours and they are perfect for creating a variety of looks.
They all have a matt finish which I love and they come in a handy little palette.
Full review of this palette will be up shortly and you can check them out on the link below.
