Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Review

Well for the past week I have been trying out some of the latest offerings from Bourjois.
I'm a sucker for a bit of colour so I've had great fun playing around with their new range of liquid lipsticks. Here's the DL my friends.

The packaging is about the same size as a standard lipstick so it fits in your makeup bag or your pocket very nicely.
There are new six shades available and today I'm focusing on my favourite one which is called "Pink Pong".
This shade is a vibrant fuschia pink and it sure packs a colour punch.
It's the kind of colour that would suit so many people once you're brave enough to give it a try.
DO IT!

The applicator is similar to a lipgloss wand but it's really firm which makes applying the lipstick that bit easier.
It's also the perfect length and makes creating the perfect lip shape that bit easier.
If you find creating a bright coloured lip difficult, here's my advice:
Take lots of deep breaths, keep calm and know that if it doesn't work you can just wash it off and start over.

In terms of it's wearability, I have a few observations.
The colour is really long-lasting to the point that it's actually tricky to get it off (which is a good complaint).
Bourjois claim that it's non-drying and the colour won't transfer etc. but I wouldn't 100% agree.
After a few hours my lips were crying out for a drop of gloss and were looking a bit neglected.
Also the colour does transfer onto pretty much everything it touches which included my boyfriend's forehead.
Poor divil didn't see it coming.

I would recommend applying a coat to dry lips and then regardless of how tempted you are to add another layer throughout the day, DON'T DO IT!
The texture starts to look a bit lumpy if you add anymore so keep to one coat and just leave it be.

The only other draw back for me is it's smell.
It's the Makeup Artist in me but I instinctively smell the majority of the products I use, particularly liquid and cream products.
There is a very mild plasticy smell off these lip colours that I think could've been improved when it was being manufactured.
On a positive note it's only noticeable when you're applying it and then it disappears.

With all that said, considering it's price point, which will be €12.49 when they're released mid April, I think they're really amazing.
The colour is so vibrant with great staying power and I'd be willing to pay alot more for them but being just over a tenner suits me fine too.

 What do you guys think?
