Hozier "Take me to Church".

Like with everything, I caught on a bit late with this one.
I only heard the song a few weeks back and I literally just watched the video this afternoon.
I've actually watched it like 10 times so far and it's content is so brutal in it's honest and profound in it's content that I'm left a bit shocked by it.
Shocked in the most positive sense that someone is actually trying to make a difference.
When you're bombarded with music videos that focus on flaunting extreme wealth, shaking certain female body parts and blatant product placement, it's so refreshing to see an Artist that's using their musical platform to spread awareness of social issues.

This video is built around the horrific treatment of the gay and LBGT communities around the world mainly in countries like Russia.
It's also a huge issue in countries like Nigeria where they recently declared it ILLEGAL to be gay.
Like it's actually in their legislation can you believe it?

My personal opinion on the matter is that when the "straight" community dedicate their entire lives to making life unbearable for the gay community, they might have some underlying sexual repression of their own that should be dealt with.
Dedicating your life to hate is ridiculous beyond words and don't even bring religion into it because I'm pretty Jesus/God had bigger things to worry about than "who-was-dating-who".

My heart literally breaks for how these people are being treated around the world.
Videos have come out of Russia and Nigeria of gay people being tortured, abused, beaten and murdered in broad daylight in front of people who just stand on and do nothing.
Such amounts of hate and negativity will forever keep us in the dark ages as we're caught up on trivial issues like sexual preference, race, gender etc. and therefore we can't and won't evolve.

The hate doesn't come from the gay community in any of these attacks and they simply want to live their lives and be left alone.
I'm so grateful to Hozier for helping to create such a profound piece of video and let's hope more artists use their platform to help make a change instead of just a quick buck.
