Todays post is all about portfolios.
Very important topic for makeup artists, models and all general industry types.
When I was in London about two years ago, I discovered the Portfolios Plus shop hidden away in Shoreditch.
I had a good look through their selection of portfolios to seek out the perfect one for me.
Their selection is so vast so whether you are looking for a €30 or a €300 book, you will find one to suit you.
I didn't have the cash to get one then and there but at least I knew where I would buy it from.
I have always felt that portfolios are super important for makeup artists.
Potential clients will judge your work from what they see in your portfolio (whether it be on line etc) so I wanted to display my work in the nicest book possible.
This is where Portfolios Plus and I formed a beautiful relationship.
I'd been contemplating the type of book I wanted for quite a while and because good quality ones can be quite pricey, I didn't want to rush into anything.
I finally decided to order the "Techstyle Agency Book Quality Hide Leather" 11 x 14 inches one which costs around €200.
I know it seems quite steep but this is a top of the line book which is handmade in leather.
It can hold up to 25 sleeves so you can display a large body of your work which was what I wanted.
The sleeves are sold separately and they come in sets of 10 so I got three sets just to be sure.
They are on special at the moment and each pack usually sells for €29 but at the moment you can get them for €18 so I saved a good few euros.
I also bought a protective bag for the book because as I'm very clumsy, I wanted to do everything possible to prevent me from ruining my new beautiful investment.
The bag looks just like a laptop case and is fully padded with both a shoulder strap and a handle.
I got this for around €80 which again seems like a lot but in my opinion there is no point investing in a good portfolio and not having a case to carry it around with.
I have to say I really love my new portfolio and I'd definitely recommend Portfolio Plus.
